IMPD: 15-year-old arrested for alleged role in south side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — A 15-year-old has been arrested for his alleged role in a shooting that injured another teen Sunday morning on the city’s south side.

According to IMPD, officers were called shortly after midnight to the 600 block of East Dudley Avenue in response to calls of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located one male juvenile with a gunshot wound.

The victim was originally reported to be in critical condition. However, the victim’s status was updated to “stable” after arriving at Riley Hospital for medical treatment.

After speaking with the victim, IMPD said the incident actually occurred around the corner from Dudley Avenue in the 600 block of Gilbert Avenue.

IMPD announced Sunday afternoon that the 15-year-old suspect has been arrested for dangerous possession of a firearm, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, unlawful carrying of a firearm and aggravated battery.

Police have not yet confirmed what led to the shooting.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.
