An Airman stationed at Creech Air Force Base in Indian Springs, Nevada, has been confirmed dead by the base in a statement sent out Thursday morning.
According to officials with the base, the Airman was confirmed dead on Tuesday, March 28, in an area that was reportedly off-base.
He was found unresponsive by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and was rushed to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, where he was pronounced dead.
The U.S. Air Force Airman was identified as Airman Basic Markel Ellison, assigned to the 30th Reconnaissance Squadron.
"I am extremely saddened to learn that we have lost a valued member of our 432nd Wing family," said Col. Eric Schmidt, 432nd Wing/432nd Air Expeditionary Wing commander.
"The whole Hunter team extends our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of Airman Ellison, and we are doing all we can to assist them during this devastating loss."
No details surrounding the death have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
Creech Air Force Base is located about 30 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
