INDIAN RIVER COUNTY − A vague threat aimed at the Indian River County courthouse and reported to police led to a brief increase in security at the facility Friday morning.

Ultimately, police deemed it unfounded following an investigation.

Precaution: What was described as a tip of a vague threat generally directed toward the courthouse triggered the increase in security beginning around 7:30 a.m. Friday while the person said to have been responsible for making the statement was apprehended by law enforcement in Brevard County by 10 a.m., said Indian River County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Kevin Jaworski.

Business as normal: By that time, Jaworski said the facility at 2000 16th Ave. was back to "business as normal." The threat was found to be a statement made by a man to a family member during a dispute and reported to law enforcement. Although the man was said to be in law enforcement custody, Jaworski said it was not clear if an arrest or a mental health evaluation would follow from the investigation.
