VERO BEACH — A 19-year-old man was jailed after leading police and deputies on a high-speed chase – exceeding 100 mph – along U.S. 1 on Monday, officials said. Indian River County sheriff’s deputies used their patrol cars to bump and disable the man’s vehicle before detaining him.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 46-year-old woman was jailed Sunday after deputies said she used a fake ID to pose as a university professor in an attempt to buy two vehicles from a car dealership. Sherri Lynette Wilson used an identification that had the name of the instructor based in Greenville, North Carolina, reports show.

The sign might be gone, but Publix’s plans to build a supermarket closer to shoppers on the northern half of the barrier island aren’t going away. A regional spokesperson for the Florida-based supermarket chain last week confirmed the company’s plan to build a Publix-anchored shopping plaza on the south side of State Road 510, less than a half-mile east of U.S. 1.

Admission is $20 general, $15 veterans, $5 ages 10 and under, and $100 for VIP tickets.
