Gene Davis, 89, of Indian Mound, TN, went to be with his Lord on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th, 2023, after an extended illness. Gene was born in Castleberry, Alabama July 20, 1933, to Myrtle Mae Calloway Davis and David Daniel Davis, and was preceded in death by both parents, his beloved wife of 46 years, Muriel England Davis; daughter, Alice Marie Davis-Trickey and siblings William (Alma) Davis, Louis Davis, Joel Levon (Laurel) Davis, Melvin (Patricia) Davis, Christine (Coy) Morris, Doris (Wiley) Carr, and Ruby Davis.

Gene was born and raised on his family’s farm in Alabama. He graduated from high school in Conecuh County and went on to work as an aircraft mechanic in Mobile, AL before enlisting in the Army and spending two memorable years in Baumholder, Germany. He returned to Alabama where he served in the Army Reserves, USAF Reserves and Alabama National Guard for several more years. He received a certification in personnel management by COMA and was a career civil servant in DoD Logistics. After retiring from Federal civil service he had a lawn care business and spent lots of time in ministry. He brought kids to church through bus ministry in Ohio and Alabama, served as a Baptist deacon and taught Sunday School for over 50 years, helped with Good News Clubs in local schools in Clarksville, TN, sang in the choir, and shared Jesus everywhere he went. He enjoyed his final earthly home in Tennessee, where he hunted, fished and enjoyed his “million-dollar view” of the woods and wildlife behind his home. He loved gardening, including growing large quantities of okra, which he gave away through his “okra ministry” when it was in season. He loved hydrangeas and had a beautiful hydrangea garden in Ohio before he moved to Tennessee.

Gene is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Ray) Comley and Melanie (Dave) Steinke, grandchildren, Krista Steinke, Michelle Trickey, Denise Trickey, Kyle (Carrie) Comley and Daniel Comley; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Trickey, Alice Trickey, and Bryce Comley; and sisters, Elsie Davis Stegall and Annie Ruth Davis Pate.
