Sylvia Sue Burkhart, age 86, of Indian Mound, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2023.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Johnny Burkhart and Phillip Hinton officiating. Burial will follow at Needmore Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Sylvia entered into this life on February 27, 1937, in Stewart County, TN to the late Clinton and Lydia Annie Smith Atkins. She was a homemaker and a member of Needmore Church of Christ. Through foster care, she and Marshall opened their home to over 300 children who grew to call her mom or Grandma Sue. She was a true servant of the Lord and lived by Matthew 19:14.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Marshall Burkhart; daughter, LuAnn Hinton; son, Jon Burkhart.
Survivors include her sons, David Burkhart, Mike (Marsha) Burkhart, Kenneth (Betsy) Burkhart; daughters, Betty Burkhart, Marranda Burkhart; son-in-law, Phillip Hinton; daughter-in-law, Penny Burkhart; many grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Needmore Church of Christ- Cemetery Fund.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
