A Caddo Parish zoning commission is asking for an overhaul to simplify the zoning code in hopes of promoting business growth and better serving rural residents. The Caddo Parish Planning and Zoning Commission wants the Caddo Parish Commission to fund a revamping of the zoning codes that govern the five-mile area around Shreveport city limits, according to its vice chair. The zoning code for that area as it exists is too complex for the needs of that area, and does not adequately provide for the rural lifestyle many who live outside city limits prefer, said Caddo Parish Planning and Zoning Commission Vice Chair Laura Neubert, who spoke on the issue to the Commission Monday.

18-year-old woman shot to death in Shreveport fast food parking lot, 19-year-old wounded
An 18-year-old woman was shot to death in the parking lot of a south Shreveport fast food restaurant early Monday morning, parish and city officials confirmed. Enijua Turks, was inside of a car at the restaurant in the 2500 block of W. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop when she was shot several times around 1:50 a.m. She was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital where she died at 2:06 a.m., according to the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office.
