Security upgrades, procedures at Shreveport's Government Plaza coming soon
It's soon going to be a little harder to get inside Government Plaza in downtown Shreveport — by design. Long-awaited upgrades to security hardware and policy are being implemented at the seat of Shreveport and Caddo Parish government. Within a couple of months, those looking to attend meetings, pay utility bills, seek permits or conduct other business with agencies of local government will need to sign in and pass through a metal detector, among other security procedures already common in many other public buildings.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The 14th annual ARTini fundraiser is in full swing at Sam’s Town Casino and Hotel in downtown Shreveport. On Saturday, June 8, hundreds of people gathered at ARTini hosted by Bossier Arts Council. The event showcases hand-painted martini glasses, live music, food and a selection of martinis from Shreveport-Bossier’s most popular restaurants and bars.
BC Block Builders Annual PTF Quilt show happening this week at the YMCA
Bradley Block Builders Quilt Club members will proudly feature their 2024 Pink Tomato Quilt during the annual quilt show held at the Donald W Reynolds YMCA this week in conjunction with the tomato festival. The quilt made by individual contributions from over twenty quilters, was assembled by the club members and hand quilted by the Pleasant Valley Quilters. The beautiful, handcrafted creation may be viewed during the quilt show where the winning opportunity may be purchased.The lucky winner will be announced at the close of the quilt show on Saturday. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will be used to fund the club’s many local, charitable projects.

Victim of fatal stabbing identified
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Caddo Parish Coroner released the name of a woman found stabbed to death inside her apartment. The coroner identified 67-year-old Peggy Smith as the victim of a fatal stabbing in the 1800 block of Jewella Avenue. She was found late in the afternoon on Sunday, June 2, by a family member and was pronounced dead at 7:07 p.m.
