Parading since 1981, this Black Mardi Gras krewe brings Bay St. Louis together: ‘Real slice of MS’
When Rickey Lewis moved north as a child in the 1980s, he spent the next five years missing Bay St. Louis, a feeling that deepened every Mardi Gras when the streets of his hometown were fogged with barbecue smoke and littered with beads. Lewis returned during Carnival twice, and each...

This Mississippi Speakeasy Is Turning Heads Nationally—Here's Why You Need To Go
The first time I walked through the door at Siren Social Club in Gulfport, Mississippi, I immediately felt nervous. Bold tropical prints popped against exposed brick walls painted a glossy, arresting black. Sharp gothic arches soared over the backlit bar, bottles gleaming. House music thumped in the background like the heartbeat of a menacing jungle cat. To put it mildly, Siren is a vibe. And vibes make me nervous.

The Biloxi Little Theatre’s Play Within a Play
BILOXI (GG) — For the second play of its 79th season, Biloxi Little Theatre presented Trouble in Mind by Alice Childress directed by Eric Funches. The curtain was up as the audience found their seats, revealing what looked like an unfinished set. Upon closer examination, I saw that the set was actually arranged to look like the backstage of a theatre, complete with its own exit and dressing rooms. This hinted at the meta nature of the play, which is about a group of actors, some Black, some white, who have been cast in a play called “Chaos in Belleville.” In the first scene, veteran actress Wiletta, played by Michelle Brown, is the first to arrive for rehearsal.

From Coast Classics to Your Kitchen: Pizza Spots & Homemade Tips
One of my favorite things in the world is a good, made from scratch pizza. As far as I am concerned the chains, the ones that deliver, just don’t get it. Hands down, the best has got to be Sicilian II on Pass Road in Biloxi and that’s not just for pizza, everything they serve is just great. The Sicilian Greek salad is amazing, as is the stuffed manicotti, the linguine, and calzone. You just can’t go wrong at Sicilian II, but the pizza is a must, it is life changing.
