Howard County Farmers Market Opens Season

Howard County had its first official farmer’s market of the season at its pavilion in Nashville, AR across from the USDA building. The market started at 7 am on Friday and ran until 10:30. Vendors included Salinas farm, Fern Michaels, Plants and String, Mike of Many Hats, Tim White and Jerry Wenta.
Salinas farmĀ  had cucumbers, cabbage, potatoes, yellow squash, onions and jellies, Fern Michaels had fried pies – coconut, chocolate, peach, sweet potato, pecan and strawberry. Plants and String had crocheted items – wash clothes, worry worms and jar covers. She also had soap and plants – tomatoes, stevia, lemon thyme, mint, turmeric, amaryllis and bromeliad.
Mike of Many Hats makes blinds, shades and shutters. Tim White had bird houses and Jerry Wenta had a few different plants including vinca and spider plant. Wenta normally has fruits and vegetables and has planted okra, cucumbers, tomatoes, blueberries, peppers
The market is debating whether or not to remain with Friday hours or switch to Saturday instead. They are planning on having a food demonstration or tasting every week
