Mattress Mack running it back with $1.9 million Astros World Series bet

Mattress Mack envisions a repeat.

After the famous sports gambler, whose real name is Jim McIngvale, won a whopping $75 million last year with multiple bets on the Astros to win the World Series, he’s back for more with Opening Day around the corner.

McIngvale, a Houston-area furniture store magnate, recorded a video from Caesars Palace in Las Vegas announcing his new bet for this upcoming season.

McIngvale placed a $1.9 million bet on the Astros to win the World Series again, and at +600 odds, the payout would earn him $11.4 million (with a $13.3 million total payout).

“They won last year, and this is the golden age of Houston Astros baseball,” McIngvale said in the video. “And they will cement the dynasty by winning the world championship this year.”

Before last season, McIngvale placed a $3 million bet on the Astros to win the World Series at +1000 odds, and continued to place more bets on the team throughout the regular season and postseason.

The $30 million payout for his initial $3 million bet last year, which he received in a check from Caesars, is the largest payout on a single wager in the history of legal betting in America.

Much of the $75 million he earned from the Astros last year went back to his community, however.

During last season, McIngvale offered a promotion to his customers where they’d get their money back on mattress sets that cost over $3,000 if the Astros won the World Series.

After Houston pulled off the feat, McIngvale has said that he used almost the entirety of the $75 million to cover the expenses for the promotion.

“All I gotta say is, coach did a great job, Astros gonna win the World Series again this year,” McIngvale said. “Go ‘Stros.”
