Aggressive bear removed from Village
As many residents are aware, bears have been roaming around sections of Hot Springs Village. The POA has received several complaints about this, but one in particular was cause for concern. That complaint noted that a bear had charged someone and was thus considered a threat. POA’s Todd Noles contacted the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission who set a trap for that bear, a juvenile weighing approximately 100 to 120 pounds. It was caught on June 1 and relocated to the Winona Refuge on Forest Service land. The Commission took blood samples, measured, and tagged the bear prior to releasing it.

Military Fishing Day 2023 – Service, pride and a flyover
Military Fishing Day 2023 took place at Lake Balboa on May 17. The sky was overcast as the day began with some early morning rain – however, the drizzle did not dampen the spirit of those in attendance. Many Hot Springs Village residents take advantage of the eleven recreational lakes as they value the tranquil joy of fishing. Hot Springs Village is also home to many veterans and residents who share another value - respect for the men and women in our military. Plan an event that includes a day of bass fishing for airmen from the Little Rock Air Force Base, a delicious lunch funded by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth, Texas, and served by the generous members of Altrusa (who also prepared dessert), and you have a perfect day.

Bears in HSV - Yes, but do not feed them

This happens every few years and occurs when the bears here in central Arkansas need to expand their range for available food. The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission says do not feed the bears. If residents feed them it could cause the bears to more frequently visit the Village. Do not approach the bears. Photos – yes, encounters – no.
