A man who allegedly struck and killed a Milford woman in a road rage incident earlier this month has had his charges upgraded to murder, officials said Monday.

Destini Decoff, 26, was reportedly struck by Ryan Sweatt, 36 of Milford, on April 4 on Route 85 in Hopkinton, according to prosecutors. Decoff died three days later.

Sweatt was previously arraigned on and pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger, and a marked lanes violation, Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan said in a press release. Sweatt will be arranged on the murder charge in Framingham District Court on Tuesday.

The incident allegedly occurred when Sweatt became enraged at another vehicle while driving. Some of the occupants of the other vehicle, including Decoff, got out of the car, prompting Sweatt to allegedly make a U-turn and hit her in the roadway.

In a Facebook post April 7, Decoff’s mother vowed to get justice for her daughter.

“Go spread those beautiful wings & fly without pain & suffering…as our family says see ya love ya,” Tracy Decoff wrote.
