Two Charged After Hopkinsville Traffic Stop

A traffic stop for a turn signal violation on East 9th Street in Hopkinsville led to drug charges for two men Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 29-year-old Trequan Lewis of Hopkinsville for not using a turn signal and during the stop, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

After further investigation, an unknown crystal substance, and two guns were reportedly found in the vehicle.

The passenger 44-year-old Donte Dixon of Clarksville reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. Lewis was arrested and charged with failure to or improper signal, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Dixon was also arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana.
