HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A suspect was shot by officers with the Hopewell Police Department Special Weapons and Tactic Team after they executed a narcotics search warrant on Wednesday morning.

At 8:04 a.m. on March 27, a narcotics search warrant was executed in the 1100 block of Kruper Avenue.

According to police, officers entered the home and were confronted by a 38-year-old man — and resident of the home — who brandished a firearm at officers.

“Police then fired at the male and he was struck,” a spokesperson with Virginia State Police said. “The subject was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.”

No officers were harmed during the incident, according to Hopewell Police.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations is leading the investigation into this incident. Anyone with further information on this incident is encouraged to call 804-674-2133.
