Hope Farmers Market For June 6th
The Farmer’s Market was held at the HUB on Tuesday June 6th. There were 14 vendors and this week for the first time of the season the Terry Kirkpatrick had blueberries. While the radishes seemed done there were string beans as well as colorful cauliflower besides the potatoes, squashes and usual items. One vendor had dog treats. For the best selection it is recommended to get there early.
Mae Estes Named “Female Vocalist of the Year” by Arkansas Country Music Association for 3rd Year in a Row
Hope’s own Mae Estes took home the Arkansas Country Music Association’s “Female Vocalist of the Year” for a third year in a row in Monday night’s (6-5) annual awards ceremony in Conway. Estes also was on the program as well. She has produced an impressive body of work in both writing and recording and made her debut on the Grand Old Opry earlier this year. She is a graduate of Hope High and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee where she pursues a full-time career in music.
EVA preparing for July 4 celebration
EMMET – While it’s a few days early, Emmet will host its 2nd Annual 4th of July Celebration on July 1. There will be live music, food trucks, vendor booths, face painting, children’s slide and fireworks, along with gifts for first responders. The event will again take place at the former Emmet school.
Museum in Prescott sets new hours
The Nevada County Depot and Museum in Prescott has announced new hours of operation. The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. “We are so pleased that we can now be open on Fridays and Saturdays,” said museum director Jamie Simmons. “Not only does this allow local residents more convenient times to visit, it also gives travelers another destination to visit on their journeys.”
Emmet EVA hosts Bingo tourney
EMMET – Emmet’s Vision Association (EVA) held its second Bingo tournament of the year. The purpose was to raise money for the Second Annual Fourth of July Celebration. Money raised will to toward paying for a band, the fireworks show and attractions for children, such as face painting. There will also be vendor booths with plenty of food at the celebration.
Busy time at Rosston VFD BBQ
ROSSTON – It was supposed to begin at 2 p.m., however, people began showing up much earlier for the Rosston Volunteer Fire Department’s BBQ fundraiser Saturday. In fact, volunteers hadn’t finished setting everything up before people started arriving for the BBQ brisket, pork and chicken, along with cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, green beans and corn, not to mention a table full of desserts.
Hope Pre-K Mans Table At Hope Farmers Market
At the Hope Farmer’s Market held at the Hub on Tuesday morning May 23rd, the pre K program at Clinton Primary was on hand to pass out literature. Pre-K will be offered at Clinton Primary at 601 Lakeshore Drive in Hope. While there is income eligibility, the requirements have been loosened so most people are eligible. The children must be 3 by August 1st for the three-year old class and 4 by August 1st for the 4 year old class. The cost is free.
Farmer’s Market opens
PRESCOTT – It was opening day for the Nevada County Farmer’s Market Friday. There was a good crowd as people came for fresh vegetables. There were new potatoes, onions, cucumbers, zucchini and squash. However, other vendors were on hand selling fresh eggs, jams, jellies and pickles. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce set up shop and handed out free bags of popcorn, along with handing bags to the farmers so they could use them for their wares.
Bingo night in Emmet
EMMET – The Emmet Vision Association will be hosting a Bingo Night Saturday, June 3, from 3-7 p.m. in the Emmet Storm Shelter. A $5 card allows people to play all night. There will also be a concession stand available. All proceeds will go to the Emmet July Celebration.

PRESCOTT – Charles Goodwin was the winner of a grill/smoker raffled off by the Prescott Rotary Club. The drawing was held Friday morning at the Bank of Delight, with Jodie Lathrop picking the winner. The names were held by president-elect Patricia Roberts.
