Each year, the Bonham Award goes to a men’s and women’s athlete who “best exemplifies the ideals for which Jack Bonham stood for in the areas of athletic excellence, academic achievement, public service, leadership and character.” It is named after former assistant athletics director Jack Bonham, who was killed in a 1974 plane crash returning from American Samoa.

Chakas won the men’s portion of the award despite tearing his ACL in March. The volleyball outside hitter from Greece ends his career as a two-time national champion, two-time All-Big West selection and Most Outstanding Player at the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

His charity work outside of the volleyball court includes United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawai’i, HUGS Hawai’i, and the Lili’uokalani Trust.

Davies recently completed her five-year career with the Rainbow Wahine, which included three consecutive postseason appearances. The Alaska native’s work off the court includes assisting with the Bella Project, YIP Camp, and clinics and visits to elementary schools.

Glagau is a two-time All-American for the Wahine beach volleyball team and three-time Big West selection. Her grade point average is 3.77, and has an internship with HUGS, where she is practicing social work. Her other extracurricular activities include tutoring and coaching at Palolo Elementary School and membership of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
