HONOLULU (KHON2) — Expect mostly dry weather and pleasant trade winds through next week. The trade winds will pick up on Thursday and stay strong into next week, though they will slightly weaken over the weekend. Windward and mauka areas will see some clouds and brief showers overnight into the mornings, as occasional moisture moves through.

This dry pattern will continue next week due to high pressure north of the area. Winds shifting from the northeast will become breezy by Thursday. Even with dry conditions, a weak upper low and some remaining moisture might bring a few light showers to north and northeast slopes late tonight into Thursday as winds increase. This moisture will still be around Thursday night but will lessen afterward.

The strong trade winds will continue on Friday but will become lighter to moderate over the weekend because of a weakening in the ridge from a distant northern system. A nearby upper-level low to the north may slightly increase showers on the windward side during nighttime and morning hours. Dry weather will dominate early next week as the area experiences rising air pressures and strengthening easterly trades.
