HONOLULU (KHON2) — Two men are dead and multiple victims were taken to the hospital on Sunday following what police said were reports of a possible overdose case.

First responders were called to a Waikīkī hotel at around 6:30 a.m. to assist five patients on Kālia Road.

According to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, one adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other males and two females were taken to an area hospital. The Honolulu Police Department said in a release Monday morning that another of the men died at the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Both men were in critical condition, and the two females were in serious condition. The ages of the patients range from 40 to 53 years old.

HPD said on Monday that there was fentanyl detected at the scene.

HPD is investigating and has classified both deaths as unattended deaths.
