HONOLULU (KITV4) -- A skateboarder is in critical condition after being struck by a car near the Ala Moana Center, Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and Kona Iki Street.
A 35-year-old man riding a skateboard was attempting to cross Kapiolani Boulevard at Kona Iki Street when he was struck by a car that was heading westbound on Kapiolani, according to Honolulu Police.
The 67-year-old driver was not injured in the crash and stayed at the scene.
The skateboarder was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. There has not been an update on his condition since Thursday.
Neither the skateboarder nor the driver have been identified.
This incident remains under investigation. Speed, alcohol, and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said. Investigators did not say who had the right of way at the time of the crash.
