Local Artists to Launch Public Awareness Campaigns in San Diego and Imperial Counties
Residents in San Diego and Imperial Counties will soon see the work of 60 artists and cultural practitioners in their communities. This is part of the Far South/Border North: Artists and Cultural Practitioners in Community grant program. The City of San Diego stated that these artists are starting their public awareness campaigns. These campaigns aim to address regional issues like public health, civic engagement, climate change, and social justice. They will mainly target communities in the lowest quartile of the California Healthy Places Index.

Mayor Burnworth crowned Mystery Box Chef
IMPERIAL— The mayors of El Centro and Imperial competed in the Kiwanis Club sponsored “Mystery Box Cook-Off” at the Imperial Valley Food Bank in Imperial. Imperial Mayor Katie Burnworth aka Chef Burnworth won the first Mystery Box Cook-Off. She and her assistant, Sous Chef Brad Huber, prepared chipotle mac & cheese, turkey tacos, and for dessert, a peaches and strawberry reduction with sugar flour tortilla chips.
A Magical Christmas Parade
(Calexico Christmas Parade)....It will be on December 9th in Downtown Calexico. The Parade starts at 10 am and will feature Floats, Bands, Marching Groups, Vehicles, Elected Officials, Equestrian Groups and Royalty. The competition categories will be the Floats, Drill Teams, Marching Bands, and Bandas de Guerra. Organizations can still sign-up to participate. There is no entry fee.
