Suspect Arrested After 2-Year-Old Accidentally Shot in Vernon Hills
A 19-year-old man was taken into custody after a two-year-old girl accidentally shot herself in Vernon Hills, according to authorities. At around 2:14 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of Plumwood Lane, officers with the Vernon Hills Police Department were called about a child who had been injured by fireworks, but determined that the girl had actually been shot, according to police.

EVANSTON, Ill. - A Cook County man was arrested this week for possessing a firearm and fleeing from police in Evanston. Antione Wells, 20, of Skokie, faces one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, one misdemeanor count of possession of a firearm without a FOID card, one misdemeanor count of possession of ammunition without a FOID car and one misdemeanor count of trespass to a vehicle.
Girl, 4, Accidentally Shot Dead by Another Child: Cops
A 4-year-old girl died after she was accidentally shot by another child in Illinois, according to police. Emergency services were called to a home at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning in River Grove where they found the victim severely injured. The girl, who later died, was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as Camila Ariana Duarte, according to CBS News. Police said her father told them that he was outside when the shooting took place inside the home. He said he immediately called 911 after being informed of the deadly accident by another child, according to ABC 7.
