Louis Volpe, 32, of Nesconset, New York, is charged with one count of insurance fraud, a third-degree crime, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Volpe was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City on Thursday, March 16th. and released pending his first court appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court which is tentatively scheduled for March 23rd.

The investigation determined that Volpe filed a claim with Progressive Insurance and intentionally gave them incorrect information regarding water damage sustained by his 2016 Jeep Cherokee and knowingly concealed that the Jeep had pre-existing mold damage.

Suarez credited members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit with the investigation and arrest.
