BLUEFIELD W.Va. (Hinton News) - The Bluefield Arts & Revitalization Corporation (BARC) is pleased to present The Charleston Ballet performing "Breaking Boundaries," an entertaining and exciting program of classical, contemporary, and modern dance pieces on stage at the Granada Theater.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students 17 and under. For more information and to reserve your tickets, please visit www.bluefieldgranda.com .

Rob Linkous, President of BARC, stated, "BARC is honored to bring the Charleston Ballet to the Granada Theater, providing an opportunity for Mercer County residents to experience professional dance at its finest. We particularly want young people to be able to attend and have kept ticket prices affordable, at only $5 for students.”

The Charleston Ballet, the official West Virginia State Ballet, was formed in 1956 by Andre Van Damme. Mr. Van Damme achieved great success in his native Belgium as the first star dancer with the Royal Opera. His vision was to provide in-state experience in a professional atmosphere for West Virginia dancers and to create a greater appreciation for the art of ballet. The company has been a pioneer among regional ballet troupes in the United States. Now in its 68th year, the company has enriched the cultural life of the state with hundreds of traditional and original ballets. Kim Pauley became artistic director in 1989 and has led the company to a reputation for high-quality professional performances and unquestioned artistic integrity.

BARC is a community-based non-profit that owns the Granada Theater and Raleigh Street Cinemas, offering first-run movies and multiple other entertainment options throughout the year. BARC also manages the Paine Gallery in the Bluefield Arts Center, holding free exhibits with different artists on a rotating schedule. The theater, cinemas, and gallery are also available for rent for private events. For rental information, please call Tim Smith at 304-887-2378.
