Deputies found fentanyl and guns early Thursday morning after stopping a driver who ran a red light in Hillsboro, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident started at about 12:15 a.m. when a deputy stopped someone who ran a red light at the intersection of Southwest Dennis Avenue and Oak Street.
The deputy learned the driver, identified as 25-year-old Jessie Chavez-Echeverria, had a suspended license. Chavez-Echeverria is also a convicted felon, and the deputy saw a 9mm handgun in the center console.

When searching the red 2008 Chevy Impala, the sheriff’s office said deputies found two other guns, ammunition, and a bag containing fentanyl.
Chavez-Echeverria was booked into the Washington County Jail on three counts of felon in possession of a firearm and a parole violation detainer. He is expected to face more charges, including fentanyl possession.
