Hillsboro High Celebrating Another Archery State Title

(HILLSBORO)   This past weekend, the Hillsboro Hawks Archery team joined the Hawks cross country and wrestling teams as state champions for this school year. The Junior high team also won the state championship at their level

The high school team finished with 1,733 points just ahead of Sarcoxie, Lee’s Summit West and Lamar in the top four. Hillsboro Junior High finished at the top in their division with 1,688 points.

Dan Gronborg is the Hillsboro Archery head coach. He started the program 13 years ago and this is the third state title for the high school team. According to Gronborg, the scores of 12 archers for the team pushed the Hawks over the top in the “Bulls Eye” competition.

Gronborg says several Hillsboro archers qualified for scholarships and money.

Gronborg mentions three Hillsboro participants who achieved Individual awards.

According to Gronborg, the archery teams will continue practicing as they will be heading to the National Competition in Louisville on May 11th.
