Hickory remained steady at No. 1 for the third consecutive week, with its 11-3 win over Richmond-area school Atlee as the Hawks’ only action. There was otherwise some turbulence in the softball 757Teamz Top 15.
Granby’s 9-4 win over Western Branch dropped the Bruins from second to fourth in the Top 15. The Comets only held serve, however, remaining at No. 8 because of an 8-3 loss to Kellam.
Kellam, which moved up to No. 3 behind the Hawks and Nansemond River, has flexed its muscles often this season, beating Kempsville — which dropped from the rankings this week — and No. 11 Ocean Lakes in addition to Granby.
Newcomers to the rankings are Smithfield at No. 12 and Kecoughtan at No. 15.
