Petrie's game-winning hit helps Bluejackets beat Falconsn

FARIBAULT—The Hibbing High School baseball team got seven-hit pitching from Luke Nelson and Kody Birmes en route to a 3-2 10-inning victory over Faribault Friday at Faribault Bell Field.

Nelson tossed 5 ⅓ innings, allowing just five hits. He struck out three and walked four. Birmes tossed 4 ⅔ innings, giving up two hits. He struck out one and walked two.

Cunniff tossed four innings for the Falcons, giving up four hits, striking out four and walking four. Crone worked six innings of relief, allowing seven hits, striking out five and walking two.

Faribault scored two runs in the first inning, then Hibbing came back with two runs in the third.

The game remained scoreless until the 10th when Ryder Petrie knocked in the game-winning run.

Jace Kampsula had three hits for the Bluejackets, including two doubles. Ryder Petrie picked up three hits, with one RBI. Kaden Augustine had two hits., and getting one each were Nelson, Birmes and Gavin Lamphere.

Stoessel and Cunniff both had two hits for the Falcons.

VIRGINIA—The Bluejackets could only muster one singles win as the Dragons beat Hibbing in high school boys tennis action Friday at the Virginia Indoor and Pickleball Courts.

Isaiah Hildenbrand got the lone win, beating Julian Kozisek 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.

Pine City got singles wins from Braden Berglund over Cooper Hendrickson 6-2, 6-2; Greyson Johnson over Jack Gabardi 6-2, 6-3; and Ashton Moore over Keaton Petrick 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 in a super tiebreaker.

In doubles, Bryer Berube and Aaron Rootkie beat Brady Fosso and Benny Galli 6-0, 6-2; Spencer Wickler and McCall Leger beat Tyler Fisher and Whitaker Rewert 3-6, 6-2, 6-4; and Milo Ryderg and Bohdan Valvoda beat Ethan Johnson and Rex Walli 6-2, 6-2.
