High School Roundup: Perquimans blanks Eagles in soccer 9-0

The Perquimans Pirates girls soccer team dominated the Northeastern Eagles on Thursday evening at Northeastern, winning by a score of 9-0.

Perquimans scored four goals in the first half and five in the second half for the win.

The Pirates are now 11-2 overall while the Eagles fell to 4-14 overall.

Camden 2, Cape Hatteras 0The Camden County girls soccer team defeated Cape Hatteras 2-0 on Thursday in a non district matchup.

The Bruins scored both of their goals in the first half to run their record to 8-7-2.

Kaelyn Windham and Annalise Barlow each scored a goal in the game for Camden. Grace Schratwieser and Courtney Forbes each had an assist.

The Bruins face Perquimans on the road in Hertford Monday at 5 p.m.

Softball

Camden 3, Holmes 1The Camden County Bruins softball team defeated the Holmes Aces 3-1 on Thursday evening in Camden to remain perfect in Northeastern Coastal Conference play.

Camden scored one run in the bottom of the third but Holmes answered in the top of the fourth with a run to tie the game at one.

The Bruins responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.

After one of her teammates was hit by a pitch and another singled, Ruby Arnette grounded out to score Camden’s second run. Tessa Dodson then singled home an insurance run.

Caleigh Martin pitched a complete game for Camden, giving up only one run on five hits and four walks while striking out four.

Chloe Chappell also pitched a complete game for Holmes, going six innings. She gave up three runs, only two of which were earned, on four hits and six walks. She also recorded four strikeouts.

The Aces got hits from Harper Evans, Marley Harrell, Jordan Ward, Mia Hoffer and Ainsley Parrish.
