Giuseppe Of Española Shelter Is Leading ‘Favorite Shelter Dog Makeover’ In Dirty Dogs Contest 2024
Giuseppe’s arrival to a shelter in Española is a heartbreaking testament to neglect. Five pounds of matted fur covered up a host of health issues and rendered him unable to walk. Once groomed, Giuseppe could finally get the dedicated medical care and foster support he needed. Now this senior pup is living out his golden years in the comfort of a loving home. Giuseppe is getting the most votes and the shelter will receive $10,000 if it wins the Dirty Dogs Contest. People can vote for their favorite dirty dog once a day through May 31 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Movie armorer appeals conviction in fatal shooting of cinematographer by Alec Baldwin
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A movie weapons armorer is appealing her conviction for involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by Alec Baldwin on the set of the Western film “Rust,” according to court documents released Tuesday. A defense attorney filed the shortly worded appeal notice as Hannah Gutierrez-Reed serves an 18-month sentence at a New Mexico penitentiary for women. Her attorneys have 30 days to submit detailed arguments. Prosecutors blame Gutierrez-Reed for unwittingly bringing live ammunition onto the set of “Rust,” where it was expressly prohibited, and for failing to follow basic gun-safety protocols. A jury convicted her in state court in March. Baldwin, the lead actor and co-producer of the film, was pointing a gun at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during a rehearsal when the gun went off, killing her and wounding director Joel Souza.

LAHS Students Educate Board About School Of Choice
From left, Los Alamos High School (LAHS) students Mairen Hoch, Lauran Norman, Dylan Pacheco and Mariana Medina present to the School Board the merits of the School of Choice (SOC) program during Tuesday night’s meeting. SOC, according to agenda documents, is an alternate program within LAHS intended to reach students who have a strong desire to learn and to graduate but who are failing their core classes. Typically, these are students who work hard, participate well and are creative but struggle with homework and tests. Most SOC students have high academic ability but have outside factors that affect their ability to complete work after school. SOC classes focus more on concepts rather than details, and the curriculum is based on in-class debate, discussion and projects. Learning is done in the classroom using interactive, student-centered methods. Courtesy photo.
