One man is dead following a crash in Hermon on Sunday morning.

What Happened?

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office says the crash was reported at around 8:00 Sunday morning on Route 2 in Hermon. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash determined that a sedan was traveling toward Hermon village when it left the roadway. The vehicle struck an embankment, a utility pole, and a small business property, rolling over several times before coming to rest.

Who Died in the Crash?

Officials say Matthew Sforza, 22, of Hermon was alone in the vehicle, and died at the scene.

Was Traffic Affected?

Route 2 was closed for a while Sunday morning while members of the Sheriff's Department investigated the crash. Hermon Fire Department personnel provided assistance at the scene, as well.
