Actor David Selby will receive the Elizabeth Montgomery Magical Humanitarian Award at the Bewitched FanFare in coordination with the Classic TV Preservation Society on Saturday, September 14th at the Beverly Garden Hotel.
A Closer Look
The esteemed David Selby is best known for his performances benchmark performances as Quentin Collins on the legendary gothic daytime serial Dark Shadows (ABC, 1966-1971), and as Richard Channing on the richly-produced prime-time soap Falcon Crest (CBS, 1981-1990).
With a long list of acclaimed credits, Selby has made other prominent TV appearances including as a series regular on Flamingo Road, and countless guest shots on everything from The Waltons and Kojak to more recently, Legion and Chicago Fire, and beyond.
Selby has also made several feature films including classics such as Up the Sandbox, The Super Cops and Raise the Titanic, to The Social Network, and more.
A distinguished stage actor as well, Selby has performed in acclaimed productions for Broadway and such regional theatres as the Kennedy Center, the American Shakespeare Festival, the Hartford Stage, the Alley Theatre, and the Shakespeare Theatre in DC, where he received the Millennium Award, and he is a member of the Cleveland Playhouse Hall of Fame.
Theatrical Background
David Selby was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. He received B.S. and M.A. degrees from West Virginia University and a Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University.
He is an honorary member of the West Virginia University Creative Arts Center's Advisory Board, has worked with the Governor's Honor Academy, and has made many guest appearances around the state of West Virginia.
Selby is a member of the Cleveland Play House Hall of Fame, and, in 1999, he received the Millennium Recognition Award from The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C. David and his wife, Chip, fund a guest artist series at West Virginia University.
In 1989, he was honored as a distinguished alumnus of West Virginia University, and, in May 1992, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Communications and Fine Arts at Southern Illinois University. He was given the first Life Achievement Award from the West Virginia University College of Creative Arts in 1998, and he received an honorary doctorate from West Virginia University in 2004.
Selby and his wife, Claudeis, a.k.a., “Chip,” operated a summer children's musical theatre in New York for one decade before relocating to Los Angeles. He has directed several programs with youth and has volunteered with scouting and youth sports programs. He also served on the board of several nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles and is very active in his local church.

On September 14, 2024, the Bewitched FanFare, organized by lauded live-event producer Mark Simpson, will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the beloved Bewitched TV series (ABC, 1966-1972) starring Elizabeth Montgomery as the magical "twitch-witch" Samantha Stephens.

Elizabeth Montgomery, who succumbed to cancer in 1995, was known for her humility and was a dedicated humanitarian who devoted her time, money, and public persona to several charitable organizations.
Similar in eloquence, demeanor, and generosity, David Selby was selected to receive the Elizabeth Montgomery Magical Humanitarian Award, which is co-sponsored by the Classic TV Preservation Society nonprofit organization.
Selby will receive the accolade on the evening of Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Beverly Garland Hotel, located at 4222 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, CA 91602.
