Eddie Marshall, owner and operator of Elite Welding & Fabrication Solutions on Market Street in Hemphill, pauses for a photo as he was busy welding a receiver hitch onto the rear of the Six Mile Volunteer Fire Department's brush truck. Marshall donated the time and materials needed to install the receiver hitch, and the department says now the truck can be used to pull a trailer with rescue equipment.

The Six Mile Volunteer Fire Department in Sabine County is thanking a local businessman who recently assisted the department.

According to the department, Eddie Marshall, who is the owner and operator of Elite Welding & Fabrication Solutions on Market Street in Hemphill, donated the time and materials needed to install a receiver hitch on the back of the department’s brush truck.

Firefighters say being able to tow a trailer with the brush truck will allow them to transport their search and rescue vehicle if necessary.

In an online post, the department wrote “We wish to thank him for an excellent job”.

Located on Highway 87 near the western shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir, the department handles a variety of emergency situations both on land and water across a large area.
