SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio man has accepted a 30-year sentence for the murder of a man during a dispute last May. KENS 5 previously reported police had arrested 23-year-old Matthew Isaac Ortiz after he confessed to shooting and killing 28-year-old Charles “Ruso” Martinez in May 2023.

San Antonio Invests $909K from Opioid Settlements for Overdose Prevention and Substance Use Treatment
In a recent move to combat the growing opioid crisis, San Antonio has put a sizable chunk of cash into play. Metro Health, the city’s health department, has been cleared to use $909,000 over the next two years on various initiatives aimed at slashing overdoses, thanks to funds from opioid lawsuit settlements.
