Historic flooding event: Here is how much rain fell across Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – A combination of an upper-level disturbance and persistent easterly winds brought rounds of heavy rain to Central Florida starting Sunday. Brevard County saw historic flooding, with some areas experiencing a 1-in-100-year flood event and more than 23 inches of rain. Other counties avoided the same level of damage but still recorded impressive rainfall totals.

Clermont Council Backs McKinney Park Site for Long-Sought Lincoln Park Center

Clermont City Council threw its support behind a long-discussed Lincoln Park community center on Oct. 27, voting 4-1 to back a McKinney Park location and directing city staff to work with the group pushing the project. Yellow caution tape still surrounds the property at 1620 Neptune Road, the subject of a lawsuit over ownership and control of Neptune Road Baptist Church. In a complaint filed Oct. 23 in Osceola County Circuit Court, Neptune Road Baptist names Iglesia Bautista Central de Kissimmee, pastors Edgar A. Vasquez and Benjamin Gonzalez, elder Ricardo Payano and the law firm Shuffield, Lowman & Wilson as defendants. Neptune Road Baptist is asking the court to restore its possession of the property, confirm its ownership and authority over church operations, and award damages.
