ROGERSVILLE — A program called Shooting Hunger is helping children who need food to eat in Hawkins County.
The Family Resource Center in Hawkins County Schools in mid-May received a $2,700 donation to help provide backpack meals for hungry children in the county.
Representatives from the Tennessee Farm Bureau, Tennessee Farmers Cooperation and Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st donated the money.
The funds were raised through Shooting Hunger sport clay shooting events. Since 2015, the events have provided more than 2 million meals to hungry Tennesseans, according to a news release form Farm Bureau.
