Two Rockland food pantries are getting a financial boost to help serve those in need.
The Rockland Interfaith Breakfast Program in Spring Valley and the Evangelical Baptist Church Food Pantry in Haverstraw each received a $1,000 grant.
Rockland Community Against Hunger and United Way of Rockland raised the money to give back to food pantries.
"I would like to give a thank you to the community," says Louis Desir, of the Evangelical Baptist Church Food Pantry.
Officials say local pantries are struggling to keep up as more and more people go to them for food.
"We can't express how positive we are and grateful for this, this grant today. It's certainly a beautiful thing and it will really go to good use," says Bert Hughes, of the Rockland Interfaith Breakfast Program.
