CHBC Wins Third in a Row with Second Win Over Ramsey in a Week
For the second time in a week, the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats and Ramsey Rams squared off and CHBC again came away with a win, beating Ramsey 70-33 in Egyptian Illini Conference action on Friday night. The Bobcats got off to a quick start, taking a 20-6 lead after the first quarter backed by the hot start of senior Gage Lorton who dropped 12 points in the quarter. Ramsey would play the Bobcats a little closer in the second quarter, but the Rams were outscored again, 16-10, as CHBC would take a 36-16 halftime lead. The two teams would battle point for point, each scoring 16 points in the third quarter with Ramsey senior Gunner Finley hitting 8 points as CHBC continued to hold the lead, 52-32. CHBC would shut down the Ramsey offense in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Rams 18-1 as they would close out the big 70-33 win. CHBC’s Lorton would finish the game with 30 points to lead all scorers with teammate Clayton Wojcik also hitting double digit scoring with 11 points. Ramsey was led by Gunner Finley with 14 points. CHBC improves to 4-2 on the season (1-0 in the EIC) and will have a tough test on Tuesday when they travel to Effingham to take on St. Anthony in a National Trail Conference matchup. Ramsey will travel to Edinburg today where they will face Hartsburg-Emden in the Ben Theilen Shootout at 7:00pm.
