A house fire was reported on Old Pomona Road in Suffern at 5:30 Friday evening. Upon arrival, units from the Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1 followed the smoke and fire visible from the front door that led to the basement. The units managed to quickly extinguish the basement fire and were able to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the home by containing the fire to the boiler room and surrounding area, due to the quick response of the firefighters.
