(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Harvey man will spend more than two decades behind bars after being convicted of an armed carjacking that started in Chicago and ended in Will County.
Earlier this year, 28-year-old Jordan Henry was found guilty for the Feb. 23, 2022, carjacking that took place on Diversey Parkway and resulted in a high-speed chase along I-55.
He was found guilty of the following 13 counts:
-Three counts of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking (Class X Felony – Category A)
-Two counts of Armed Robbery (Class X Felony-Category A)
-Two counts of Attempt Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking (Class 1 Felony – Category A)
-Aggravated Unlawful Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 1 Felony – Category A)
-Two counts of Theft (Class 2 Felony – Category A)
-Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony – Category A)
-Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer (Class 4 Felony – Category A)
-Striking a Police Animal (Class A Misdemeanor – Category B)

On Wednesday, Will County State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow touted their aggressive prosecution and said Henry made a “big mistake” by bringing his crimes into Will County’s jurisdiction.
He also criticized the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for being lenient with Henry in the past.
In 2021, Glasgow claimed Henry failed to appear for three separate court hearings and each time no arrest warrant was issued.

In January 2022, Henry was caught with a stolen vehicle and posted $1,000 bail on a $10,000 bond, just 13 days before the Diversey carjacking.
“When you look at his criminal history, obviously that is an incredibly low bail for someone who has exhibited that level of dangerousness,” said Glasgow.
The Will County State’s Attorney went on to say that had Henry been arrested in Chicago for the February 2022 carjacking, he “probably would have been back out on the street in a very short period of time”.
WBBM has reached out to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for comment on Henry’s criminal record.
