Westborough DPW trimming trees this week

Heavy flames, black smoke erupt from Lowell, Massachusetts, electrical transformer
LOWELL, Mass. — More than 100 customers were without power in Lowell, Massachusetts, Monday afternoon after a fire in a transformer box on a city street. Witnesses reported hearing a big explosion on Warren Court just off Central Street followed by several smaller booms at about 2 p.m. From Sky 5, thick black smoke and heavy flames could be seen coming from the transformer, which is located on the side of the street near a parking lot.
