Investigation underway after Hartford officer fired weapon

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An investigation is underway after a Hartford police officer fired their weapon just after midnight Saturday, according to police.

Officials were in the 400 block of Wethersfield Avenue at around 12:15 a.m. when an officer discharged their weapon. Police said no one was struck by the gunfire.

At this time, there is no information on why the officer fired their weapon or why police were on Wethersfield Avenue.

The Office of Inspector General, along with the state police’s Western District Major Crimes Unit, are investigating.
