SHAWNEETOWN – A Harrisburg woman was recently sentenced in Gallatin County Circuit Court to three and a half years in state prison for arson.

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page Wednesday that 39-year-old Jennifer Gibson was sentenced on March 20 for an arson she committed earlier this year on Saline Mine Road in rural Gallatin County.

According to the press release, in the early morning hours of Jan. 25, the Shawneetown Fire Department was toned to an abandoned mobile home trailer fire on Saline Mine Road south of Shawneetown.

Upon arriving at the scene, Sheriff Shannon Bradley along with two deputies responded and found footprints in the snow that had fallen overnight leading away from the scene. The sheriff and deputies followed the footprints and located Gibson in an abandoned camper trailer.

The case was investigated by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by the Gallatin County State’s Attorney.
