Harper Woods Kroger evacuated following bomb threat

Shoppers and staff at a Wayne County grocery store were forced to evacuate midday on Friday due to an unfolding police situation.

HARPER WOODS (WWJ) - Shoppers and staff at a Wayne County grocery store were forced to evacuate Friday morning due to a bomb threat.

Shopping came to a halt when Kroger management evacuated the grocery store located at 20903 Harper Ave. Harper Woods police officers were dispatched around 11 a.m., secured the scene and contacted the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad to conduct a sweep of the building.

There was no evidence of an explosive device found at the scene. The store reopened a short time thereafter.

Police have not yet arrested a suspect.

Harper Woods detectives continue to investigate.
