It didn’t take long for the “Hot 777” scratch-off ticket to produce a seven-figure prize after it went on sale in April, with the Harford County man claiming the first jackpot just weeks after the game went into circulation.

The Lottery player - who chose not to disclose a name after his big windfall - walked out of Fallston Liquors on Harford Road with spirits and then got home with high spirits after scratching three tickets, one of which was the big winner.

He has maintained a shroud of secrecy, only telling his wife and lawyer about the golden ticket, adding that “I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. I am still in shock.”

Now that he is in a new tax bracket, the Harford County man, who works in manufacturing, says that he now has a little nest egg for his impending retirement, though there is some on the side for some more Maryland Lottery tickets.

For selling the winning “Hot 777” ticket - which has become one of the top-selling scratchers statewide - Fallston Liquors was also awarded a $1,000 bonus.

This was the first $1 million top-prize winning “Hot 777” tickets. Officials say that there are still five $50,000 prizes are awaiting discovery along with 154 $10,000 prizes and others ranging from $20 to $5,000.
