If Mother Nature ever deserved a pat on her back, it’s now. The weather across Pennsylvania has been sunny all week providing beautiful landscapes as the leaves reach their peak colors of the season. The only people who may have a right to complain about the weather are those who would like to see some rain to raise the water levels on their favorite fishing spots. For example, in Erie, steelhead are waiting for higher water levels to leave Lake Erie and swim up into the tributaries to spawn. Anglers are crowding the lower ends of these now shallow creeks and fishing in the Great Lake where the fish are gathering until water levels rise. If you like trout fishing, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has been busy releasing 114,700 adult rainbow, brown and brook trout in 117 stream sections and lakes across the state. I watched their staff and volunteers release fish into Laurel Hill Creek and Laurel Hill Lake in Somerset County earlier this week. There were plenty of anglers also on hand who were ready to fish for these fresh fish. Fortunately, in many places like lakes, the fish quickly scatter to create good opportunities for

A nor'easter positioned well off the Mid-Atlantic coast will bring gusty north-northeast winds to the Lehigh Valley through Wednesday, though the storm's distance from shore means inland Pennsylvania will avoid the most significant impacts. No precipitation is expected in the region, as the deeper moisture associated with the system remains...
Fall weather is in full swing in Pennsylvania, and the changing season will bring with it beautiful fall foliage colors to trees across the region. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Fall Foliage Report for the week of October 15-21 projected that Allegheny County and much of southwestern Pennsylvania are currently in the “approaching peak color” stage, with most counties in the center and north of the state being in peak color already.

The earlier Freeze Watches have been upgraded to warnings. A warning means sub-freezing temperatures are expected, not just possible. Five National...
