Blackbeard Pirate Festival returns to Hampton this weekend

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Visitors from all over will descend on Hampton for the Blackbeard Pirate Festival this weekend.

Reenactors dressed in authentic pirate garb allow visitors to step back in time to when Hampton was a busy 18th century seaport.

The festival in Downtown Hampton June 2-4 offers a variety of family-friendly events including; children’s activities, live music, fireworks vendors and arts and crafts.

Friday, take part in the Pirate’s Parlay from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the encampment at Mill Point Park on Eaton Street. Wear your finest piratical attire to this free event.

Saturday, the festival goes all day. Visit Blackbeard’s Pirate Encampment from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Explore Blackbeard’s Pirate Encampment in Mill Point Park with world-class living history interpreters teaching the skills of the sailor of the 1700s. Guests may even have the opportunity to learn how to use a cutlass, load a cannon, or sing a sea shanty. From 7 p.m. until 10 p.m., enjoy Blackbeard’s Block Party, with a festival fireworks display at 9 p.m. over the Hampton River.

Sunday, the fun continues along the Downtown Hampton Waterfront from noon until 6 p.m.
