A bridge dedication is scheduled June 24 at 11 a.m. for Michael P. Oliver, 1965 Hampton High School graduate killed in Vietnam.
The bridge to be dedicated to Oliver is located on Highway 19E crossing the Doe River across the road from Hampton High School.
Oliver, of Butler, was killed in combat action in Vietnam on January 8, 1968, at the age of 20. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry, 196th Light Infantry Brigade, Americal Division of the U.S. Army.
The Tennessee House and Senate passed a bill this past April to name the Hampton bridge in honor of Oliver.
All Hampton High School alumni and friends are invited.
