Construction starts on another fast-food restaurant in Wilmington
Construction has started on a fast-food chain restaurant in Wilmington. Work on a new Cook Out at 4195 Market St. has started. It's being built on the site of a former Wells Fargo bank. A representative at Cook Out's corporate office could not say when that restaurant is expected to open. In 2019, speculation surrounded the opening of Taco Roo's , a Mexican restaurant concept owned by the company that eventually transitioned into the Cook Out at 429 College Road. Another Cook Out location in New Hanover County is situated at 5615 Carolina Beach Road. Cook Out restaurants are also located in Leland and Shallotte. The popular hamburger chain, which originated in Greensboro in 1989, has more

The Wilmington restaurant has stayed true to its original, seafood-focused vision even after Humphrey’s death in 2021. More: Best hidden gem restaurants in the Wilmington area? Try these 10 spots The new look Since then, Humphrey's son, Daniel Humphrey, has operated the restaurant with his wife, Ashley. The couple met when they were both working at Boathouse more than a decade ago. "We still have a picture of my dad at the restaurant," Daniel Humphrey said.
