For Pet's Sake: Lymphoma is one of the more common types of cancer
MISSOULA, Mont. — Lymphoma is one of the more common types of cancer that I see in my middle age to older canine patients. As with humans, lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system which includes the spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow and thymus. One of the first clinical signs clients may notice is that their dog’s lymph nodes are enlarged. The common peripheral lymph nodes can be felt behind the jaw, by the front of the shoulder or behind the knee. If you notice enlarged lymph nodes on your dog or if he or she is losing weight or lethargic, definitely schedule an appointment with your vet to talk about necessary diagnostics and pending results, options like chemotherapy if warranted.
